In Memoriam: Robert Hamilton Crick Jr. (1947–2025)

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our colleague, Robert Hamilton Crick Jr., affectionately known as Rob, who passed away on August 16, 2025, at the age of 78.
Rob joined Washington State University’s Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture as an adjunct faculty member in the Engineering and Technology Management (ETM) Program, where he served for more than 25 years teaching “Legal Concepts for Managers.” During his tenure, Rob taught and mentored more than 500 students, leaving a lasting impact on their professional development and understanding of contract project management.
Rob’s distinguished career spanned construction and government contracts law, where he was widely respected for his expertise in negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation at the local, state, and federal levels. His career left an indelible mark not only through his legal practice, but also through his deep commitment to education and his ability to connect theory to real-world application for working professionals.
Beyond the classroom, Rob was a passionate advocate for alpine skiing and racing in the Pacific Northwest. He served on the Alpine Competition Committee during the 1980s and ’90s, was a past president of the Pacific Northwest Ski Association, and a past trustee of the Pacific Northwest Ski Education Foundation.
Above all, Rob was devoted to his family. He shared 58 years of marriage with his wife, Christine Meeske, and was a proud father to Jennifer Holcomb and Derek Crick, and grandfather to Chloe, Cooper, Katja, and Collette. His presence at ski races and family gatherings alike reflected the joy he found in supporting those he loved.
Rob is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jerry Crick. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, brother Thomas Crick, and sister Jody Walker.
