Jim Jones, who currently serves as chair of the Graduate Studies Committee (GSC), has been appointed director of the Engineering and Technology Management (ETM) program, effective February 1.

Jones brings deep familiarity with the program, having worked closely with faculty, students, and staff in his role as GSC chair. His appointment follows a period of thoughtful transition and reflects the program’s continued focus on academic quality, continuity, and student success.

“I’m excited to step into this role and continue working alongside our dedicated community of faculty, staff, and students,” Jones said. “ETM has a strong foundation, and I look forward to building on its momentum and continuing to support working professionals pursuing advanced education.”

As director, Jones will focus on advancing ETM’s growth objectives by strengthening industry partnerships, expanding the program’s industry-relevant curriculum aligned with workforce needs, fostering faculty collaboration, and deepening engagement with students and alumni.

Luna Magpili, who has served as director, will continue her involvement with the program as chair of the GSC, providing continuity and sustained academic oversight during this next phase.

“Dr. Magpili’s leadership has had a profound impact on ETM,” Jones said. “Her experience, institutional knowledge, and generous mentorship have strengthened the program, and I am grateful for her continued involvement and guidance.”

The program looks forward to welcoming Jones into his new role and sharing opportunities for students to engage with him in the coming weeks.
